According to SAEDNEWS, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbass Araghchi held important talks with Bassam Sabbagh, Syria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his visit to Damascus on Saturday.

The two diplomats met to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations, focusing on political, economic, and security cooperation. They emphasized the need to strengthen ties and ensure that existing agreements between their countries are fully implemented.

During their discussions, Araghchi and Sabbagh touched upon recent regional developments, particularly the ongoing suffering of Palestinians and the repeated assaults by Israel on Lebanon. They both underscored the importance of using diplomatic efforts to highlight these tragedies to the international community and called for an immediate halt to Israel's military actions.

Sabbagh stressed the significance of enhancing coordination between Iran and Syria within international organizations to tackle unilateralism and uphold the rule of law. He urged both nations to leverage their alliances with like-minded countries to achieve these goals.

Araghchi criticized the UN Security Council for its lack of action regarding Israeli violations, attributing this inaction to the support of the United States and the United Kingdom for Israel. He highlighted the need for a united front among Islamic and Arab nations to pressure Israel's supporters to cease their backing of the Israeli regime's actions.

Both ministers agreed that their countries would enhance diplomatic consultations through their permanent missions in New York and Geneva.

Earlier, on Friday, Foreign Minister Araghchi completed a visit to Beirut, marking his initial trip to Lebanon since taking office. During this visit, he met with Lebanese officials, including Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, amid growing tensions and ongoing Israeli military activities in the region.
