SAEDNEWS: Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied US allegations that Russia is interfering in American elections.
According to SAEDNEWS, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied allegations from the United States that Russia is interfering in American elections.
"This is not the first time that Russia has been blamed for interfering in America’s elections," Peskov told the Washington Post. "Well of course it’s nonsense. We’re not interfering."
His comments came in response to recent U.S. sanctions against Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of the Russian news outlet RT, along with her two deputies.
Peskov stated, "Our media are doing their job. They’re just reporting. They’re reporting the truth, but unfortunately, Americans do not like uncomfortable truth for them, and should it appear, they immediately implement repressions against it. This is the reality," as reported by TASS.
The remarks come just months before the U.S. presidential election, set for November 5. President Biden was expected to run for re-election under the Democratic Party banner. However, after a poor performance in a June debate against Republican candidate Donald Trump, he has decided to withdraw from the race and support his Vice President, Kamala Harris, for the nomination instead.
