According to SAEDNEWS, Yōko Kamikawa, Japan's Foreign Minister, has extended her congratulations to Abbas Araghchi following his appointment as the new Foreign Minister of Iran. Araghchi, who previously served as deputy foreign minister and ambassador to Japan, officially took office today.
A statement released on the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs website details that Minister Kamikawa sent a congratulatory letter to H.E. Dr. Seyyed Abbas Araghchi. In her message, Kamikawa expressed her aspirations for Iran to assume a more constructive role in fostering peace and stability in the Middle East while advancing cooperation with the international community.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted Minister Kamikawa's intent to collaborate closely with the newly appointed Foreign Minister Araghchi. As a former ambassador to Japan and an expert on Japanese matters, Araghchi's experience is seen as pivotal in strengthening the historically friendly ties between Japan and Iran. Abbas Araghchi secured his position as Iran's Foreign Minister with 244 votes in favor from Iranian lawmakers during a parliamentary session earlier on Wednesday.
