Iran Vows to Develop Essential Deterrents in Response to Israeli Actions

According to SAEDNEWS, Iran has taken legal and political measures to respond to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, according to Nasser Kan'ani, the country's foreign ministry spokesperson.

"We have made legal and political correspondence with the head of the Security Council, the Secretary General of the United Nations, and the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation," Kan'ani said at a press conference on Monday.

"We have also requested an urgent meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which is scheduled to be held on Wednesday in Jeddah at the level of foreign ministers," he added.

Iran has vowed to take its "serious and deterrent action" against Israel, citing its substantive right and the principles of international law. "If international organizations are not able to stand up against the criminal and human rights violations of the Zionist regime, Iran cannot be indifferent to the national security and the security of its friends and allies and defend the security of the region," Kan'ani said.

The spokesperson emphasized that Iran acts within the framework of international law and defends its national security, intending to punish the aggressor and create deterrence. "We have taken the necessary legal and political measures and have requested our expectations from the Security Council and the officials of international forums," Kan'ani said.

"Iran will create the necessary deterrence against the adventurous behavior of the Zionist regime," he added. "We do not seek to escalate tensions in the region."

Iran believes that the international community should work to restore stability to the region and support the punishment of the aggressor at the hands of Iran. "We also work to strengthen stability in the region," Kan'ani emphasized.

The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh was carried out by firing a short-range projectile with a warhead of about 7 kilograms, along with a strong explosion, from outside his place of accommodation. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has vowed to avenge his blood, saying that the terrorist Zionist regime will face severe punishment at an appropriate time and place.

In a statement, the IRGC revealed that the assassination was designed and implemented by Israel, with support from America's "criminal government."
