According to the Science and Technology service of Saednews, quoting from Fars, fat used to have a negative connotation in the field of nutrition. Years ago, doctors recommended limiting or eliminating dietary fat to prevent weight gain or issues like heart disease and diabetes.

However, today doctors know that not all fats are bad. In fact, some fats can even lower cholesterol levels and keep the body healthy. The goal should be to increase the consumption of good fats while minimizing bad fats.

Role and Benefits of Fat in the Body: The most important thing when consuming fats is to create a good balance between fats and other nutrients in our diet and to consume the healthiest types of fats in appropriate amounts.

According to the Ministry of Health, we should get 25 to 30 percent of our daily energy from fats and oils, based on global nutrition guidelines. Therefore, fat must be consumed daily through our diet to ensure the body can produce hormones and carry out functions that require fats, especially fatty acids, without facing problems.

Unfortunately, a wrong culture prevails among people who consume a lot of fatty foods. Fast food, rice dishes and stews with excess oil, butter, cream, and whole milk are full of fat and saturated fatty acids, which can jeopardize our health. Therefore, we should severely limit the consumption of fatty foods.

It should be noted that each gram of carbohydrates and protein provides 4 kilocalories of energy, but each gram of oil provides 9 kilocalories of energy, about twice as much as the previous two food groups. Therefore, consuming excessive fatty foods and using too much oil in cooking, which results in fatty food, can lead to weight gain. If this unhealthy dietary pattern continues, the result will be nothing but various diseases.

So, let's decide today to reduce the amount of oil in our food.
