SAEDNEWS: Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu met in Florida to discuss key regional files, with Gaza and Iran at the top of the agenda.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held talks in the United States focusing on developments in the Middle East, including the Gaza Strip and Iran.
According to Al Jazeera, the meeting took place at Trump’s private residence in Mar-a-Lago, where the leaders discussed several regional and international issues.
Trump outlined the agenda of his meeting with Netanyahu, noting that discussions would focus on Gaza and other matters, and stating that five major files were reviewed.
Regarding Gaza, Trump said that Hamas must be disarmed to quickly finalize an agreement, despite Hamas officials rejecting any disarmament. He also expressed hope that the process would soon advance to the second phase of the Gaza plan, with reconstruction of the Gaza Strip expected to begin shortly.
Repeating claims reported by some Israeli media outlets, Trump alleged that Iran seeks to rebuild its nuclear capabilities and warned that the U.S. would act to prevent it. He also suggested that Iran was interested in negotiations, arguing that pursuing an agreement would be preferable to rebuilding nuclear programs.
Trump further claimed that Iran could have reached a diplomatic agreement with the United States before last summer’s attacks. These statements came despite ongoing U.S.-Iran talks at the time and reports that Washington was coordinating with Israel to prepare military actions against Iran. Trump later acknowledged that he had ordered the aggression against Iran.
