SAEDNEWS: Cone pizza was first introduced in Italy in 2006. It’s an innovative and exciting twist on traditional pizza. Cone pizza uses a dough shaped like an ice cream cone but is filled with pizza sauce, delicious ingredients, and melted cheese.
Cone pizza is a type of mixed pizza that stands out because of its attractive and unique appearance, making it a hit at parties for both kids and adults. The ingredients used for cone pizza are the same as those for regular pizza and can be adjusted to suit personal preferences. The key to making cone pizza is preparing the dough and shaping it into a cone, while the rest is simple. Since pizza dough requires time for the yeast to activate, it’s recommended to prepare the dough first and then work on the filling.
Milk: ½ cup
Yeast: 1 tsp
Sugar: 1 tsp
Vegetable oil: ¼ cup
Flour: 1.5 cups
Lukewarm water: ¼ cup
Sausages: 2
Mushrooms: 100 g
Bell pepper: 1
Pizza cheese: As needed
Oregano: As needed
Prepare the Dough
Pour lukewarm water into a glass or bowl, add the yeast and sugar, and mix. Let it sit until the yeast activates and becomes frothy.
Sift the flour three times into a bowl, add the milk and oil mixture, and stir. Then add the activated yeast and mix with a wooden spoon until the dough forms. Add more flour if needed. Cover the dough in a bowl and let it rise for 1.5 hours.
Shape the Dough into Cones
After the dough has rested, punch it to release the air. Divide it into portions. Grease cone molds or foil with a brush, and wrap strips of dough around the molds to form cones. If you don’t have molds, you can make them using foil.
Place the prepared cones on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes. Optionally, brush the cones with egg yolk and sprinkle sesame seeds on top for a golden finish. Turn on the broiler at the end of baking to brown the surface. Let the cones cool, then remove them from the molds.
Prepare the Filling
Dice the sausages and sauté until golden. Add sliced mushrooms and cook briefly. Finally, add diced bell pepper, sprinkle with salt and oregano, and remove from heat. Let the mixture cool.
Assemble the Cone Pizza
Fill the cones with the prepared mixture and top with pizza cheese. Arrange the cones tightly in a dish to keep them upright, and bake for 5 minutes until the cheese melts. Serve with your favorite sauce.
Dice the filling ingredients finely for better fit inside the cones.
Add a little milk to the filling at the end of cooking for a softer texture that fills the entire cone.
For smaller cones, use shorter dough strips.
You can fill the cones with Olivier salad, halva, cheese and herbs, or other mixtures instead of pizza ingredients.
Always prepare the cones before making the filling.
Instead of kneading the dough, you can lift it and slam it onto the surface 100 times for a smooth texture.
