SAEDNEWS: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the need for introducing the common literary treasures and outstanding figures between Iran and the Republic of Turkmenistan.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a special ceremony commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy, a celebrated 18th-century Iranian-Turkmen poet and scholar, President Pezeshkian spoke in Ashgabat about the enduring impact of Pyragy’s work. He noted, “Many of our language dialects are indebted to the unflinching efforts of the great poets such as Magtymguly Pyragy.”
Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of Pyragy in shaping the Turkmen language and literature, comparing his influence to that of the famous Persian poet Ferdowsi. He emphasized the poet’s focus on spirituality, morality, justice, and freedom, stating that these themes reflect the profound ideas of this great mystic.
The president went on to discuss the significance of Pyragy's "Divan of poems" and other works, which explore moral, political, social, and cultural issues. He warned that neglecting spirituality has led to many challenges faced by countries today. Pezeshkian expressed hope that fostering cultural cooperation and organizing more commemorative events will help introduce these literary treasures to a wider audience.
He also spoke about the strong and friendly relationship between Iran and Turkmenistan, describing it as constructive and based on mutual interests. He pointed out that this relationship has been growing steadily across various fields.
In addition to honoring Pyragy, President Pezeshkian addressed the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the tragic situation of the people living there. He remarked, “When we talk about cruelty and injustice, the image of suffering of the homeless people of Gaza is engraved in our minds.” He emphasized that the distress caused by violence in Gaza and Lebanon cannot be overstated.
Finally, Pezeshkian called for unity and consensus, not just within Islamic communities but as a pressing need for the global community today. He stressed that promoting peace and brotherhood is essential in our interconnected world.
