Bride Orders $900 Wedding Cake, Then Tries to Pay Only $50: Baker Shares Shocking Story

According to SAEDNEWS, A professional baker was left astonished when a bride thought that $50 would be sufficient to cover the cost of a custom three-tier wedding cake.

In a recent post on Reddit, the user known as RainbowSprinkles4 shared their experience of receiving a request for an elaborate wedding cake with a price tag that would ultimately come to around $900. However, the bride had a vastly different budget in mind.

The cake, as envisioned by the bride, would feature a chocolate base, a carrot layer in the middle, and a strawberry top tier, adorned with intricate details like fresh baby's breath and white roses cascading down and around the cake. The bride also specified that the cake should utilize a quilted technique for the base and mentioned that while a combination of fresh and sugar flowers would be "acceptable," she insisted on handmade sugar flowers, declaring she could easily tell if they were store-bought.

Adding to the cake's personalization, the bride requested a small figurine of their Australian Shepherd dog "biting out" of the base, alongside a sparkly acrylic stand for an elegant touch.

When the bride, who described her wedding as a "blow-out celebration," inquired about the cost, the baker informed her that she could expect a minimum of $850 to $900. To the baker's shock, the bride countered with a mere $50.

RainbowSprinkles4 expressed her disbelief, pointing out that flowers alone would exceed that budget. The bride then indicated that she would seek a baker who could meet her desired price.

Commenters on the post couldn't hide their opinions. One user remarked, "She’s extremely delusional and probably has no idea how much even a simple, plain cake costs. I wonder if she’ll come back once she realizes there’s no one who can fulfill her request for $50." Another mused, “When someone says 'don’t waste my time,' I know they’re about to waste mine,” while a third added, “That wouldn’t even cover the cost of ingredients or the fresh flowers, not to mention the time and artistry involved.”

Many Redditors chimed in, noting that the proposed $50 budget wouldn’t even stretch for basic ingredients. One user humorously shared a gif of a tiny wedding cake, while others maintained that the baker's $900 estimate was, in fact, quite reasonable, with some suggesting it should be priced over $1,000. "That cake sounds more like a $1,500 job," one commenter stated.
