SAEDNEWS: The former deputy foreign minister and acting minister of Iran has been appointed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution as a member of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations(SCFR).
According to SAEDNEWS, On Saturday, a significant change took place in Iran's foreign policy leadership. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, appointed Ali Bagheri Kani as a new member of the Strategic Council of Foreign Relations (SCFR).
Ali Bagheri Kani stepped into the role of interim foreign minister earlier this year after the tragic death of his predecessor, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a helicopter crash that also claimed the life of former President Ebrahim Raeisi.
In a related move, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has taken over as the new Iranian foreign minister. Previously, Araghchi was a member of the SCFR.
The SCFR was founded in June 2006 as a think tank and advisory body to the Leader. Its purpose is to engage in important policymaking and explore new opportunities in foreign relations. The council aims to leverage the expertise of Iran's elite and create strategies to achieve the goals set out in the Iran Outlook Plan.
Seyed Kamal Kharrazi, a former Iranian foreign minister, currently chairs the council.
