A Strange Couple Who Married and Divorced Each Other 12 Times!

According to the Saed News analytical news platform, a recent story about an Austrian couple has gone viral on social media, sparking controversy. This couple has married each other 12 times. The situation has escalated to the point where the police have become involved and grown suspicious. Below, we present the strangest marriage in the world—where a husband and wife have tied the knot 12 times.

The Strangest Marriage in the World

An Austrian couple who have married and divorced each other 12 times over the past 43 years have been placed under police investigation. It has been revealed that they engaged in financial fraud through this unusual practice.

Reason Behind the Controversial Divorces

The woman in this case was first widowed in 1981 when her husband passed away. Following his death, she received a severance pension of $28,300. According to Austrian laws, widows who remain unmarried continue to receive such benefits, and every two and a half years, the amount increases by 2.5 times. However, if the widow remarries, the payments stop. If she later becomes single again, she can reclaim the benefits.

Police Suspicions Over 12 Marriages

To exploit this loophole, the woman divorced her second husband every three years, claimed the pension payments, and then remarried him. However, by the 12th time, when she approached the pension insurance agency for another payout, the agency grew suspicious and reported the matter to the police.

Police investigations revealed that over 43 years, the couple had fraudulently obtained at least $341,000 from the government through this scheme. They have now been referred to the Supreme Court for further investigation and sentencing.
