SAEDNEWS: Iranian freestyle wrestler Hassan Yazdani snatched a silver medal in the 2024 Olympic Games Friday night.
According to SAEDNEWS, Yazdani's journey at the recent wrestling final was met with unexpected challenges. He suffered a hand injury early in the match, leading him to call for medical assistance multiple times. Despite his determination, the injury ultimately took its toll, and Yazdani fell to Bulgarian wrestler Magomed Ramazanov with a score of 7-1.
Leading up to the final, Yazdani showcased his impressive skills on the mat. He dominated his opening match against Australia's Jayden Lawrence with a convincing 10-0 victory, followed by a 9-4 win against Greece's Dauren Kurugliev. In the semifinals, he secured his spot in the final with a 7-1 triumph over Myles Amine from San Marino.
This latest competition marked Yazdani's third Olympic medal. He previously achieved gold in the 2016 Games and a silver medal in Tokyo four years later.
In more positive news for Iranian athletics, earlier in the day, two Iranian athletes—Amir Hossein Zare in wrestling and Mehran Barkhodari in taekwondo—secured their places in the finals, giving Iran the opportunity to contend for two additional gold medals. The excitement continues as the nation watches its athletes strive for Olympic glory.
