Semi-grain rice: 500 grams
Walnut kernels: 300 grams
Grape syrup: 1 cup
Vegetable oil: 1/4 cup
To prepare Mormakeh, first soak the semi-grain rice in water for three hours. After the mentioned time, drain the rice. Chop some of the walnut kernels and grind the remaining ones. Then, in a suitable pan, pour some oil and sauté the drained rice. Add the ground walnut kernels and sauté. Be careful not to fry the rice too much, as it will become hard and dry.
At this stage, add some water to the rice and walnut mixture. Once the water reaches boiling point and the rice has become sticky, add the grape syrup and mix everything well. Add enough water so the rice cooks fully and becomes soft under your fingers.
After the water has evaporated, add the chopped walnut kernels and continue stirring until the halva gathers in the center of the pan and the oil separates. Then, crush the halva well. Once it is cooked, spread it evenly on a greased tray and cut the Mormakeh into your preferred shape.
