Saed News: Next, we take a trip to the largest and most equipped underground city in the world, which has been found beneath the current structure of the city of Naushabad.
According to the historical service of Saed News, the Ouyi Underground City, or Naushabad Underground City, is an ancient underground city located beneath the current structure of the city of Naushabad, 3 kilometers from Aran and Bidgol. It is situated in the historical complexes of the Chahlesi Baladeh water reservoir and the central water reservoir in the village of Naushabad. This complex is 1,500 years old and dates back to the Sassanid era through the Safavid period.
Naushabad was the capital of King Anushirvan of the Sassanian Empire and is located to the northeast of Aran and Bidgol. The name Naushabad is derived from "Anushirvan," with the letter "A" gradually being dropped, giving it the name Naushabad. Additionally, due to the interconnected pathways in this underground city via wells, people used the word "Ouyi" to call out to each other. Because of the frequent use of the term "Ouyi," the city became known as "Ouyi."
This underground city features dense, complex, and extensive structures, such as narrow, interconnected corridors and small-sized rooms. The Ouyi complex lies beneath the old part of Naushabad and extends to the current level of the city. The city’s vastness, due to the connections between neighborhoods and the protection of people’s lives and property during times of insecurity, has expanded both horizontally and vertically. This architecture in Naushabad is referred to as "Ouyi."
