Immortal Women in History / One Woman, an Incredible Story / Mandana; The Crowned and Unique Queen of the Land of Iran

According to the history service of Saed News, Mandana, or Mandana, which means "the royal scent of black amber," was the daughter of "Aji Dahak," the last king of Media, wife of Cambyses, and mother of Cyrus.

A supporter of a democratic monarchy, Mandana founded the first collective school where boys learned rights, law, horsemanship, archery, and combat with various weapons. The Greek historian Herodotus attributes much of Cyrus's education to his mother.

She played a very significant role in both raising and transferring power to Cyrus. Mandana founded the first collective school, where select boys were educated, and personally taught the students about law and rights. She taught Cyrus that he should destroy the foundations of tyranny and always be a supporter and ally of the common people. In this school, horsemanship, archery, and combat skills were also taught.

Unfortunately, there is no statue or image that can be confirmed to belong to Mandana.

Near Borazjan, in Bushehr province, there is a historical structure that closely resembles the famous tomb of Cyrus the Great. However, the lack of refinement in its design becomes evident at first glance, with simple and basic cuts and carvings on the stones. This historical monument, located in a secluded and remote plain, is often attributed to the early Achaemenid kings and Cyrus I, the son of Chishpish. The tomb above it is believed to belong to his Elamite wife, the mother of Cyrus the Great, King of Persia. However, this is just one of several different opinions regarding the individual buried in this tomb.

This is the "Gor Dokhtar" tomb, a stone structure said to belong to Mandana and her daughter.
