SAEDNEWS: In a rare and symbolic moment, the daughter of late President Ebrahim Raisi urged the daughter of President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian to seek divine guidance for her father, underscoring Iran’s tense intersection of politics, religion, and legacy.
According to Saed News, Reyhaneh Sadat Raisi, daughter of the late president, recounted her meeting with Pezeshkian and his daughter, Zahra, during the closing session of the “Nation of Abraham” conference series. Reflecting on the conversation, she said she advised Zahra Pezeshkian to “pray for your father’s good end,” emphasizing that leading the Islamic Republic requires a deep commitment to religious jurisprudence and Islamic thought.
The encounter took place during a visit by then-President-elect Pezeshkian to the family of his late predecessor, a customary gesture in the Islamic Republic following a transition of power. Reyhaneh Raisi’s comment, while brief, carried symbolic resonance—framing political leadership not just as a position of power, but as a spiritual and ethical test.
Her words echoed the broader sentiment among Raisi’s supporters, who view his presidency as shaped by religious devotion and self-sacrifice. By urging prayer and invoking the concept of “aqebat be-kheiri” (a righteous end), she implicitly warned of the moral burdens that accompany political office—particularly in a theocratic system where religious legitimacy remains central to authority.
