Iranian Cleric Warns Leaders: “Martyrdom Won’t Advance Islam” and Calls for General Amnesty

According to Saed News, Ayatollah Massoudi Khomeini of the Qom Seminary issued a comprehensive critique of Iran’s leadership conduct and strategic posture, calling for a fundamental shift in discourse, decision‑making, and clemency policies. Speaking on Thursday, the cleric insisted that officials abandon public declarations of “seeking martyrdom,” arguing that true service to Islam demands preservation of key figures and long‑term action, not fatalities.

He proposed that ministers and commanders suspend oral briefings in private settings, instead exchanging written memoranda that cannot be overheard or leaked. “Write your thoughts, pass them confidentially, then act,” Massoudi Khomeini advised, highlighting vulnerabilities that have led to recent targeted attacks on senior officials. Emphasizing foresight over short‑term gains, he lamented Iran’s tendency to plan “for five days” when adversaries plot “for fifty years.”

Turning to justice and reconciliation, the ayatollah made an “urgent, humble request” to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to announce a general amnesty for all political prisoners—particularly timely following what he described as a victorious defensive war. Invoking Quranic injunctions of mercy, he argued that such clemency would foster national unity and divine approval.

Massoudi Khomeini’s remarks blend tactical counsel with moral imperatives, reflecting deep concern over security lapses and societal rifts. His dual appeal—for both strategic restraint and largesse—marks a rare moment of cross‑sector critique within Iran’s clerical establishment.
