SAEDNEWS: Senior Iranian and Brazilian diplomats condemned the US move to kidnap the president of Venezuela, warning that such actions violate the UN Charter and seriously endanger the foundations of a rules-based international order.
In a Monday call, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Brazil’s Mauro Vieira discussed bilateral ties and global developments, emphasizing cooperation among developing nations to counter unilateralism. Araqchi criticized the US military action and abduction of Venezuela’s president as a blatant violation of the UN Charter, warning it undermines international law. Vieira echoed Iran’s stance, calling the move illegal and confirming the issue will be raised at the UN, OAS, and CELAC. Meanwhile, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez assumed interim leadership, while US President Trump threatens further action, dismissed by Colombia’s Gustavo Petro as “illegitimate.”
