SAEDNEWS: Iran’s FM Spokesman cited a UN report led by Navi Pillay confirming Israel’s genocidal intent in Gaza, stressing that enablers such as the UK must assume legal and moral responsibility and end complicity in ongoing crimes.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has sharply denounced the ongoing crimes of the Israeli regime in Gaza, referencing a newly released UN Human Rights Council report.
The 72-page legal analysis, conducted by the Commission of Inquiry chaired by Navi Pillay, concluded that Israeli authorities and security forces have acted with genocidal intent to destroy, in whole or in part, the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
Baghaei highlighted a contrast with the UK’s earlier stance: on 1st September, then-Foreign Secretary David Lammy had argued that Israel was not committing genocide, citing the need for “specific intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group.”
He wrote on X:
"Now, the UN Human Rights Council’s Commission leaves no doubt: Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza. Their actions, as analyzed in detail in the 72-page report, demonstrate clear intent to destroy Palestinians, in whole or in part."
Baghaei concluded that Israel’s enablers and apologists must take legal and moral responsibility and immediately cease any complicity in the genocide of the Palestinian people.
