SAEDNEWS: Araghchi strongly criticized the recent move by the three European countries, E3, to reinstate previously lifted UN Security Council sanctions under the 2015 nuclear deal’s “snapback mechanism.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a joint phone call with the foreign ministers of France, Germany, the UK, and the EU’s top diplomat on Wednesday, urging Europe to act with “seriousness and faith in diplomacy” over the nuclear issue and the lifting of “unjust sanctions.”
During the discussion, Araghchi emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remain Iran’s top priorities to prevent further escalation. He sharply criticized the European E3’s recent attempt to reimpose UN Security Council sanctions under the 2015 nuclear deal’s “snapback mechanism,” calling it “legally and logically unjustifiable.”
Araghchi highlighted Iran’s responsible engagement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), noting that Tehran has developed a clear framework to meet its safeguards commitments under new circumstances. He urged the European powers to seize this opportunity, maintain the diplomatic path, and avoid a preventable crisis.
“The Islamic Republic is ready for a fair and balanced solution that ensures mutual interests,” he said, stressing that success depends on a responsible, independent approach from Europe, free from external pressures that undermine diplomacy and international law.
