Baku Embassy Refutes Accusations Linking Iranian Diplomat to Arms Support for Armenia

According to Saed News, The press unit of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy in Baku has responded to allegations published on the Akhar news site, denying

claims attributed to Iran’s ambassador to Armenia.

The embassy statement emphasized that accusations suggesting the ambassador was tasked with supporting Nagorno-Karabakh separatists or providing military aid to the Armenian government are entirely unfounded and false.

The statement also reminded that Iran’s principled stance supports the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. The news items on the site were described as the author’s conjectures and mental constructs.

The Akhar news outlet in Azerbaijan had published an article regarding Mehdi Sobhani, the Iranian ambassador in Armenia, claiming that while his mission in Yerevan had ended, he allegedly supported the separatist regime in Nagorno-Karabakh and fueled separatism against Azerbaijan. Additionally, the outlet suggested that Iran guaranteed military support to Armenia, including arms provision.

The embassy in Baku strongly refuted these allegations, labeling them baseless and reaffirming Iran’s commitment to peace and regional stability.
