SAEDNEWS: Iranian conservative daily Javan interprets Europe’s meeting with Donald Trump as a humiliating sign of Western decline, arguing that after four years of destructive war, Europe is forced to negotiate how much land to cede to end the conflict.
According to Saed News quoting Javan, a conservative Iranian newspaper, has analyzed the recent meeting between European leaders and former U.S. President Donald Trump from its own perspective.
According to Javan, the scene of European leaders sitting on informal chairs or stools in front of Trump’s wide table was interpreted by some as a demonstration of American power. However, the paper argues that the real issue lies elsewhere: Western leaders gathered not simply to arrange chairs but to decide, after four years of a devastating war that began with NATO’s expansionist ambitions, how much of a European country’s land should be ceded in order to stop the war. The newspaper described this as nothing less than the “burial” of the West in Eastern soil, symbolizing the broader decline of the entire Western bloc.
The paper added: Trump now declares that “Ukraine will never join NATO,” even though the war itself erupted over the insistence on Ukraine’s accession. At best, European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron can only threaten that if Russia still refuses peace—after Ukraine’s land is ceded and Crimea’s annexation recognized—they will impose “a few more sanctions.” According to Javan, Europe is experiencing its weakest moment in the past 200 years.
The editorial concludes that Europe and the United States have both lost: Europe has been weakened, America has been reduced to a stage player, and in the emerging multipolar world led by powers such as China, India, Brazil, and others, the West can no longer satisfy itself except with nostalgic photos from the Reagan era.
