SAEDNEWS: The Speaker of Iran's Parliament told the Belarusian ambassador that the U.S. and Israeli attack occurred during indirect talks. He stressed Iran had warned against any violation of its territorial integrity and gave a strong response — promising even stronger ones if repeated.
According to Saednews, Dmitry Kaltsov, the Ambassador of Belarus to Tehran, visited Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, at the Iranian Parliament (Baharestan) this morning, Wednesday.
In this meeting, Qalibaf expressed his appreciation for the position of the Belarusian government regarding the illegal and criminal aggression by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran’s nuclear facilities. He said: Their attacks on our nuclear facilities were among the most heinous and illegal actions carried out by the United States and the Zionist regime, especially since we are members of the NPT, and our nuclear activities were under the supervision of the IAEA.
The Speaker of Parliament stated that during the attack on Iran, we were in indirect negotiations with the United States, and even the date for the sixth round of negotiations had been set. He recalled: In such circumstances, we witnessed the illegal aggression by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran, and we had previously warned that any violation of our territorial integrity would be met with a strong response. As a result, you saw the response we gave to the Zionist regime and the United States.
Qalibaf further emphasized: The response of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Zionist regime during the 12-day war they imposed on us was a crushing one, to the extent that the regime had never received such a response in its entire illegal existence. Ultimately, they were forced to stop the war they had started.
He also reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s policies aimed at establishing peace and stability in the region, stating: Any tension in the region has always been rooted in the illegitimate presence of the Zionist regime as a proxy force for the United States. While we responded to their aggression against our country, if they continue their actions, our response will undoubtedly be stronger.
The Speaker of Parliament expressed satisfaction with the current relations between the parliaments and governments of Iran and Belarus, stating: There are greater potentials for expanding relations between the two countries, one of which is the Eurasian Union, in which both countries are members.
Referring to the resolutions of the Islamic Consultative Assembly aimed at strengthening relations in the Eurasian region, he said: With such agreements, we can better utilize the opportunities and capacities of the member countries of the Eurasian Union, especially in the economic field, with a focus on the private sector.
Qalibaf emphasized the necessity of continuing and expanding parliamentary relations, utilizing the capacities of parliamentary friendship groups, and added: Parliaments can play a key role in further developing the relationship between Iran and Belarus, particularly in the economic sector.
Dmitry Kaltsov, the Belarusian Ambassador to Tehran, also expressed that the historical and long-standing ties between Belarus and Iran are growing in all areas of cooperation. He said: We are witnessing expanding relations, which have gained even more importance in the current situation, and we wish to further develop them in various dimensions.
Kaltsov also evaluated the relationship between the parliaments of Belarus and Iran positively, referring to the role of parliamentary friendship groups between the two countries. He stated: Belarus is fully committed to developing relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in this regard, we hope to hold a session of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission between the two countries by the end of this year.
Furthermore, Kaltsov remarked that Belarus has been closely monitoring the tensions between the Zionist regime and Iran with concern, adding: The Iranian people have shown that in difficult circumstances, they stand firmly by their ideals and homeland with great strength.
