SAEDNEWS: Ryan Reynolds and Jon Favreau starred together in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'.
According to SAEDNEWS, In a heartfelt tribute on X (formerly Twitter), Ryan Reynolds couldn't help but express his admiration for his Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Jon Favreau. The 47-year-old actor took to the platform to share his thoughts on the 57-year-old actor and filmmaker, praising him for not just joining the Marvel universe for a brief cameo, but for his noteworthy contributions that have shaped the franchise.
“Jon Favreau didn’t just jump into #DeadpoolAndWolverine for a quick one night stand as Happy Hogan,” Ryan wrote, highlighting Jon's impactful presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He continued, “Jon gave us the 360-degree vision of an innovator, foundational Marvel forefather, and ace storyteller.”
In typical Ryan Reynolds fashion, his post was peppered with humor as he acknowledged Jon's likely discomfort with the praise. “And if I have his number right, he is WILDLY uncomfortable with everything I’m writing in this post. I got what I needed out of him so he’s gonna drink the medicine,” Ryan joked.
One of the standout moments in Ryan's tribute was his connection to the beloved character he portrays. “One of the many things I love about playing Deadpool is that he’s a fan. Like me. Deadpool LOVES Marvel,” he noted. Reflecting on working alongside one of the original visionaries behind the Marvel empire, Ryan added, “Working with Jon… was somehow BETTER than sitting with one of my heroes.”
He didn’t hold back with his enthusiasm, even offering an amusing metaphor to describe the experience: “Almost better than being cradled in Thor’s powerful arms while he sobs like a child who lost his binky in a house fire.”
Ryan recognized that while the film undoubtedly benefitted from Jon’s remarkable performance, it was his willingness to engage deeply in storytelling that made the real difference. “Jon is one of the greats. Yeah, the movie benefitted from his incredible performance, but we got something more important: his generosity of time and energy to talk story and brainstorm larger themes and ideas."
Concluding on a heartfelt note, Ryan stated, “I would drop everything to show up for Jon anytime or anywhere.”
For those who might not know, this latest entry in the superhero saga marks Jon's eighth appearance as Happy Hogan, a character he has brought to life since his first appearance in Iron Man back in 2008. His most recent outing was in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.
Ryan Reynolds’ heartfelt words serve as a reminder of the collaborative spirit that drives the success of the Marvel universe and the lasting impact that visionary talents like Jon Favreau have on it.
