Parliament Speaker Pezeshkian to El-Sisi: We Did Not Start the War, But Our Response to the Continued Aggression Will Be Decisive.

According to Saed News, Masoud Pezeshkian, on Saturday evening in response to a phone call from Mr. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of Egypt, expressed gratitude for his firm, decisive, and brotherly stance and that of his country regarding the Zionist regime’s aggression against Iran. He stated: "From the beginning, I have sought domestic unity in Iran and engagement with the world, especially neighboring and Islamic countries with which we share many commonalities, and I continue to do so."

Referring to the Zionist regime’s attack on Iran during negotiations with the U.S., the President added: "We pursued resolving issues through dialogue, but the Zionist regime invaded our land. We were neither the initiators of the war nor interested in continuing it, but if this aggression persists, we will respond decisively."

Pezeshkian emphasized that the Zionist regime is aggressively trying both to drag the U.S. into this war and to set Iran against its regional brothers. He asserted: "We are certain that the Zionist attack did not occur without U.S. approval, but I assure you and all our brothers in the region that the Zionists cannot pit us against each other."

The President noted that Iran has always declared adherence to international frameworks regarding peaceful nuclear activities. In response to Egypt’s President’s remarks about Iran’s stance on oversight by countries concerned about Iran’s nuclear activities, including the U.S., Pezeshkian said: "Iran has no intention of pursuing non-peaceful nuclear activities; these matters were also discussed in negotiations with the Americans."

He added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that development cannot happen without peace and stability. We seek that, through cooperation, the entire region reaches development and prosperity. However, it is the Zionist regime that has continuously caused insecurity and conflict in the region."

The President also affirmed his Egyptian counterpart’s remarks that under no circumstances should efforts to secure the rights of the people of Gaza and Palestine be neglected. He said: "The world must accept that it is the right of the Palestinians to have an independent land of their own."

Pezeshkian thanked the Egyptian government for its efforts to stop the Zionist regime’s aggressions against Gaza and the Islamic Republic of Iran and stated: "The Zionist regime and the U.S. thought the Islamic Republic of Iran would collapse within one or two days after the attack, but that was a delusion."

In the phone conversation, the Egyptian President again firmly condemned Israel’s aggression against Iran and said: "We are consulting with various parties, including the U.S., to de-escalate tensions and stop the war, emphasizing that space must be opened for diplomatic negotiations."

El-Sisi stressed: "Egypt insists that resolving issues related to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear program is only possible through diplomatic and technical solutions, and that any military solution will only escalate tensions and the crisis."
