SAEDNEWS: All 21 Crew Members Safe After Iran Seizes Talara Oil Tanker in Persian Gulf

Manager Confirms Crew of Seized Iranian Oil Tanker Are Safe

According to Saed News Agency, the manager of the Talara oil tanker, recently seized by Iran in the Persian Gulf, confirmed that all 21 crew members are safe and the vessel is securely anchored near Bandar Abbas.

On Saturday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that it had seized the foreign tanker Talara off the southern coast of Makran following a judicial order, citing efforts to protect national interests and resources.

The IRGC Navy’s Public Relations department stated that the seizure was part of its mission to safeguard the interests and resources of the Iranian nation.

According to the announcement, IRGC Navy rapid reaction units monitored the tanker’s movements at 7:30 a.m. local time on Friday after receiving a judicial order authorizing the vessel’s seizure. The ship, operating under the commercial name Talara and flying the Marshall Islands flag, was subsequently taken into custody.

The tanker was carrying 30,000 tons of petrochemical products and was en route to Singapore.

The IRGC Navy emphasized that the operation was conducted in accordance with legal obligations and aimed to protect Iran’s national interests and resources. The force added that an accurate report requires a full review of the cargo, inspection of the vessel, and verification of its documentation—procedures currently underway by IRGC personnel.
