SAEDNEWS: Kim Raver first spotted in a sixth season of a long-running medical series
According to SAEDNEWS, Kim Raver, known to fans as Dr. Teddy Altman, recently opened up about her journey as a female director on the iconic series Grey’s Anatomy. During the D23 fan event in Anaheim, California, Raver shared her “incredible feeling” of being at the helm of a show created by the talented Shonda Rhimes.
Having directed Season 11's episode “Training Day,” Raver reflected on her career trajectory and the challenges she faced. "I came up in the business where there were just... a lot of men. Which is great—I love all of you—but I didn't get to see a lot of women in many of the roles," she noted.
She emphasized the importance of support among women in the industry, saying, "Everyone wanted me to just do my best, which is an incredible feeling. I also got to see other women directing, editing, writing, and showrunning," highlighting the growing presence of women in leadership roles behind the camera.
Raver drew an interesting parallel between directing and the intense training of Russian ballet dancers, explaining, “You really, really, really have to work hard. It was like training for the Russian ballet. You are there to shadow, but not be seen, and not get in the way.”
Closing her thoughts on a high note, the Lipstick Jungle star said, “I had the time of my life and felt incredibly well-prepared and supported.”
Fans can look forward to more Grey’s Anatomy excitement as Season 21 is set to premiere on September 26, 2024.
