SAEDNEWS: The Iranian foreign minister has said that Tehran is ready for resumption of the dignified talks with Western countries, adding that the 2015 nuclear deal lays the good ground for a future agreement.
According to SAEDNEWS, Iran's Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, announced that the country is prepared to restart respectful talks with Western nations. He emphasized that the 2015 nuclear deal provides a solid foundation for future agreements.
In a recent interview, Araghchi discussed the achievements from President Masoud Pezeshkian's trip to Iraq. He described the visit as very productive and highlighted how Pezeshkian’s ability to speak Kurdish helped build trust with Iraqi Kurdish leaders. Araghchi noted that both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region present significant opportunities for Iran to enhance trade and economic relations.
The foreign minister also addressed the ongoing negotiations regarding the removal of sanctions related to the nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA. He stated that Iran is ready to resume dignified discussions with European countries.
“A suitable basis for negotiations must be established,” he explained, acknowledging that while some parts of the JCPOA may no longer be relevant, the overall framework can still lead to a successful agreement.
“We learn from the past but do not dwell on it,” Araghchi added, referring to Iran’s history with major powers during negotiations.
He made it clear that Iran's willingness to engage in talks does not imply a desperate need for sanctions relief, asserting, “We are ready to resume honorable dialogues with Europe through honorable means.”
