SAEDNEWS: The Sharm El-Sheikh summit prioritizes U.S. and Israeli influence over solving regional crises, conflicting with Iran’s focus on regional independence and support for the Resistance Axis.
According to the political service of Saed News and citing the political group of Jahan News: The Islamic Republic of Iran, in response to the invitation received to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh summit and after careful examination of the political, legal, and regional dimensions of this invitation, has decided not to participate in this summit.
This decision is based on the principles of Iran’s foreign policy and aims to safeguard national and regional interests. The main reasons for this decision include the following:
1. Participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit would imply implicit approval of plans that contradict the interests of regional nations, particularly the Palestinian people. This summit, centered on the so-called “Abraham Accords,” effectively leads to the normalization of relations between regional countries and the Israeli regime, while accepting the leadership role of the United States in the region.
2. Participation in this summit would mean engaging with supporters and perpetrators of extensive crimes in Gaza and other areas. The United States and the Israeli regime, with their long history of illegal actions and human rights violations—including mass killings of Palestinians and the imposition of multiple wars—cannot be considered reliable partners in peace negotiations. Iran’s presence in such a process would amount to legitimizing these actions.
3. Past experiences demonstrate the repeated unreliability of the United States in international negotiations and agreements. A prominent example of this breach of trust is the U.S.’s unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA and the application of illegal pressures against Iran. Likewise, the Israeli regime has repeatedly violated its commitments in ceasefire agreements with regional countries. These negative precedents render the Sharm El-Sheikh summit a performative and non-credible process.
4. Instead of focusing on resolving the root causes of crises, the Sharm El-Sheikh summit seeks to consolidate the influence of the United States and the Israeli regime in the region. Such a process contradicts the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which emphasize regional independence and support for the Resistance axis.
On this basis, the Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on the principles of its foreign policy and in order to safeguard national interests and support oppressed peoples in the region, particularly the Palestinian people, has decided not to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh summit.
However, some domestic and foreign observers attempt to interpret this decision as a missed opportunity in Iran’s foreign policy, particularly regarding de-escalation with the United States and non-participation in regional mechanisms.
