Sanaei: The region suffers from foreign powers' interventions /Iran's role in regional order is undeniable

According to Saed News, Mehdi Sanaei, the Political Deputy of the President’s Office, stated today — Monday, May 19 — during his participation in the Tehran Dialogue Forum:

“Thank you for the invitation; we are pleased that this forum is being held and that officials and intellectuals from various countries have gathered to engage in dialogue. In addition to its bilateral relations with other countries and its presence in international organizations, Iran possesses a distinct characteristic in its foreign policy — namely, its status as a regional power and its regional activities.”

He continued: “As you noted, the region is experiencing tension and upheaval due to various factors and is, in a way, undergoing a period of transformation. Part of this is the result of a broader global transitional phase and instability. It seems that this phase will continue. While it was initially assumed that the transition would take a decade, it has persisted, and in my view, no new world order can be anticipated in the foreseeable future.”

The Deputy emphasized: “What we are witnessing is the continuation of this transitional period, marked by fluid conditions — particularly evident in the Middle East and surrounding areas. Moreover, the region has suffered from foreign interventions, especially by the United States, over the past two decades. The effects and consequences of these interventions are visible in various neighboring countries. Exiting this situation is not easy. One important point, often stressed by Dr. Pezeshkian and reflected in the government’s overall policy — both domestic and foreign — is that the lack of unity among Muslims plays a role in exacerbating these conditions.”

He further emphasized: “If intra-regional mechanisms and frameworks are expanded, they will certainly help in resolving these issues. Therefore, we are facing a volatile region, and there are responsibilities placed upon the Islamic Republic of Iran as an active regional and international actor. What is certain is that Iran’s role in regional order and developments is undeniable.”
