Saed News: The residents of two apartment units in a residential building located in the Niknam neighborhood of the Pirouzi area in Tehran were both simultaneously robbed at night.

Theft From Several Apartments During Iftar in Tehran / Stealing one billion in gold and currency...

According to Saed News' incident report, quoting Tabnak, one of the affected families said: "We were invited to an Iftar party at a relative's house nearby. When we returned at night, we found that the locks on our apartment and the one opposite were broken and the doors were open. I immediately contacted our neighbor to inform them of what had happened."

Based on field observations by Tabnak’s reporter, the thieves only targeted gold in these two apartments. They first went for the drawers and wardrobes, emptying everything out.

Although burglars typically steal expensive or even ordinary items, in these two apartments, items like phones, laptops, gaming consoles, gift sets, guitars, televisions, vacuum cleaners, watches, bank gift cards, and household and kitchen electronics were left untouched. The only items taken, aside from the gold, were some currency and a bottle of expensive women’s perfume that had been on the vanity table.

Professional thieves with precise information In one of the apartments, there was a box of zoolbia and bamiyeh (traditional sweets) on the living room table. Given the reduced quantity, it seems at least two people were involved in the theft.

The operation was carried out with full knowledge of the residents' whereabouts, as the thieves were certain that all family members from both apartments had gone to the party and that no one was home. They also had a clear view of the only exit from the building and entered at the right time. Since the main door lock was intact, it's likely the thieves tricked one of the residents into letting them in.

Where are the surveillance camera images? Although the building was equipped with surveillance cameras, the thieves easily broke into the lockbox in the parking garage where the recording device was stored and took it with them. Additionally, there were no other cameras nearby to review the footage of the crime.

Since the camera wiring was exposed, the thieves could easily locate the recording box. For this reason, it is always recommended that such equipment be installed inside one of the apartments rather than in common areas.

Advice for families about gold According to estimates by the two affected families, they lost about one billion tomans worth of gold. It should be noted that when burglars enter a house or office, they first target drawers that are locked, as they are sure valuable items or documents are inside.

Furthermore, since women typically store their gold in the bedroom, searching through the drawers, shelves, and items in that area is always a priority for thieves.

Installing standard small safes that are hidden inside the walls or floors is an effective measure to prevent the loss of valuables after a break-in. However, if thieves are aware of the safe's existence, they will inevitably find it and may have brought the necessary tools to open it.

Maintaining confidentiality and not sharing sensitive information about the house or workplace with others is crucial, as neglecting this can create security vulnerabilities. A safe should be a secure container that only the homeowner should know about.
