According to the Saed News Society Service, the Galata Tower, which the residents of Istanbul call “Galata Kulesi,” is one of the oldest towers in the world. You might find it hard to believe, but the Galata Tower in Istanbul has stood for over 700 years and, as the Turks say, watches over the city and its sacred aura. It is worth noting that in 2013, Galata Tower was listed on the UNESCO tentative World Heritage list.

According to the Galata Tower website, the entrance fee to the tower in 2024 (year 1403 in the Iranian calendar) is about 30 euros, equivalent to 1000 Turkish lira.

Galata Tower is one of the most iconic historical attractions in Istanbul, Turkey. This historic tower, also called the Galata Kulesi Museum, is located in the European part of Istanbul, in the famous Beyoğlu district, Bereketzade neighborhood. The tower is very close to the well-known Karaköy waterfront, and you can walk from the shore to the tower in about 5 minutes. The surroundings of Galata Tower are full of restaurants, cafés, and small boutiques, indicating the popularity of this area among locals and tourists alike.

This cylindrical stone tower stands 63 meters tall. From the top of Galata Tower, you can see the real Istanbul, the Bosphorus Strait, colorful houses, historic buildings, the Golden Horn of Istanbul, and much more. Galata Tower has been on the tentative UNESCO World Heritage list since 2013 and, after renovations in 2020, has been converted into the Galata Kulesi Museum.

The main attraction at Galata Tower at night is a light-and-music show. Depending on the season and special occasions, such as New Year’s Eve or Turkey’s Independence Day, the show may be performed multiple times per night for about 20 minutes each.
