SAEDNEWS: French President Emmanuel Macron said he will formally recognize the State of Palestine on Monday in New York, a move he described as part of a broader peace plan for the Middle East.
French President Emmanuel Macron called for recognizing a Palestinian state, saying it’s essential for both security and lasting peace. He stressed that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has committed to governance reforms to prepare for statehood, while France pledges continued support.
Macron condemned Israel’s recent Gaza ground offensive as “absolutely unacceptable” and warned that ignoring political solutions leaves Palestinians vulnerable to aggressive approaches. Over 145 countries already recognize Palestine, and several European and Western nations are expected to follow France’s lead.
The move seeks tangible, irreversible progress toward a two-state solution, with regional actors, including Saudi Arabia, backing the initiative.
