SAEDNEWS: The culture ministers of Iran and Tajikistan met in St. Petersburg to expand cooperation through joint cultural initiatives.
Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Abbas Salehi, met with his Tajik counterpart, Matlubakhon Sattoriyon, to discuss expanding cultural cooperation during the 11th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum held at the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo, Russia.
Salehi highlighted the deep-rooted cultural bonds between Iran and Tajikistan, noting that these shared traditions make joint initiatives both meaningful and timely. “Both countries share numerous cultural bonds, making it fitting to plan joint initiatives,” he said.
Among the proposals discussed were joint events, contests, and award ceremonies focusing on Naqqali (traditional Persian storytelling) and reciting the Shahnameh, the legendary Persian epic that holds historical significance for both nations.
Sattoriyon welcomed these ideas, expressing appreciation for Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance’s support in publishing the Shahnameh, further cementing ties between the two countries’ cultural institutions.
The meeting also revisited recent bilateral agreements reached during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Dushanbe, emphasizing ongoing cultural exchanges and collaborative initiatives.
This dialogue underscores the commitment of Iran and Tajikistan to preserve and promote their shared heritage, bridging tradition with modern cultural engagement on an international stage.
