Warning! Don't Take Long Naps / These Risks Await Those Who Nap for Extended Periods!

According to SaedNews, recent studies reveal that longer naps can disrupt nighttime eating habits and sleep patterns. Researchers suggest that midday naps exceeding 30 minutes can be associated with higher body mass index (BMI), increased blood pressure, and the onset of heart disease and diabetes.

The results indicate that napping for more than half an hour in the middle of the day is linked to a higher risk of obesity. Obesity is a growing concern affecting over 1 billion people worldwide. The accumulation of fat in the body is related to how food is metabolized during metabolic processes.

Sleep is the most inactive state of the body, and prolonged inactivity can gradually lead to weight gain. Additionally, long naps can leave you feeling groggy for hours after waking up.

Other Disadvantages of Long Naps

  • Disruption of nighttime sleep: If the nap is too long or too late, it can interfere with your nighttime sleep.

  • Feeling groggy: Long naps are usually accompanied by feelings of drowsiness and confusion. When you wake up, you might feel sluggish and fatigued because you woke up from a deeper stage of sleep.

Studies also show that long naps are associated with many other health issues, including high blood pressure, vascular diseases, depression, obesity, inflammation, arthritis, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and impaired cognitive function in individuals with dementia.
