Saed News: The President of the United States, in his first remarks regarding yesterday’s indirect negotiations, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the talks.
According to the analytical news outlet Saed News, quoting Fars News Agency, in his first reaction to yesterday’s negotiations between Iran and the U.S. in Oman, Donald Trump told reporters: “Talks with Iran regarding its nuclear program are moving in a good direction.”
While en route to Florida aboard Air Force One, he said: “I think things are going well. Nothing matters until it’s done, so I’d prefer not to talk about it. But things are going well; I think everything with Iran is going very well.”
On Saturday night, the White House also issued a statement saying: “These talks were very positive and constructive, and the United States deeply thanks the Sultanate of Oman for supporting this initiative.”
The White House added: “Witkoff emphasized to Dr. Araghchi that he has received instructions from President Trump to resolve the disputes between the two nations through dialogue and diplomacy, if possible. These are very complex issues, and today’s direct communication was a step forward toward achieving a mutually beneficial outcome. Both parties agreed to meet again next Saturday.”
Iran’s Demands According to The Wall Street Journal
A few hours earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that during Saturday’s talks with the American side, the Iranian delegation presented several key demands while insisting on the continuation of its nuclear program.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Iran asked for access to billions of dollars in frozen assets held abroad.
Iran also requested the removal of all restrictions on oil exports and called for the swift lifting of sanctions related to its nuclear program.
The American newspaper claimed that while Iran expressed readiness to reduce its level of uranium enrichment, it rejected any demand to completely end its nuclear program.
The indirect talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States regarding sanctions relief and nuclear issues were held yesterday in Muscat, the capital of Oman, mediated by Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi.
A Telegram post from Seyed Abbas Araghchi described the atmosphere of the negotiations as “constructive and based on mutual respect,” stating that both sides exchanged their respective governments’ positions on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and the lifting of illegal sanctions via the Omani Foreign Minister.
The talks took place in two separate rooms, and after more than two and a half hours, the heads of the Iranian and U.S. delegations briefly spoke in the presence of Oman’s Foreign Minister as they exited the venue.
