SAEDNEWS: Parliament’s Security Commission Spokesperson: “The U.S. Is Untrustworthy; Decisions Must Follow Dignity, Wisdom, and Prudence
According to the political service of Saed News, Ebrahim Rezaei, in an interview with ISNA, responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s expressed willingness for peace and dialogue with Iran. Rezaei said: “Trump’s proposals and statements are not worth much attention, as he has made numerous contradictory remarks recently.”
He added, “What is clear and certain for us is that the U.S., as the main supporter of the terrorist Israeli regime in the region, acts in line with Israel’s interests. Naturally, Iran’s national interests take precedence for us. We support the Palestinian cause and will not forget America’s crimes.”
The spokesperson of the Parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission emphasized, “The key point that people, especially the influential members of society, must understand is that America is untrustworthy. This is not merely an opinion; it is a proven fact. During our negotiations, Israel and the U.S. attacked us. In the past, we reached agreements with Americans, released their prisoners, but they refused to release the Iranian nation’s assets and eventually reneged on the deal.”
Rezaei recalled, “We also reached agreements with them in the JCPOA, yet the U.S. withdrew. From the occupation of the American embassy to the broken promises of the 1980s and other incidents, there is a long history of U.S. betrayal toward Iran. Therefore, we have every right to distrust America.”
He added, “If we do not learn from history and past experiences, we are bound to repeat them and suffer losses again. Whether it is Trump’s America or any other, the U.S. is untrustworthy. We must make decisions based on three principles: dignity, wisdom, and national interest.”
In conclusion, Rezaei stressed, “Currently, we are not negotiating with the U.S., and we consider any dialogue or engagement with America harmful to Iran’s national interests.”
