SAEDNEWS: Iran has released details following the investigations into the martyrdom of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
According to SAEDNEWS, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political office of the Islamic Resistance of Hamas, was assassinated in a projectile attack on his residence in Tehran at approximately 2:00 am. He was staying at a veterans' residence in northern Tehran while visiting Iran for the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian president.
The IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) released a statement condemning the attack and offering condolences to the people of Palestine, the Islamic nation, and the combatants of the Resistance Front and the noble nation of Iran. The statement read: "With deepest condolences to the heroic nation of Palestine and the Islamic nation and the combatants of the Resistance Front and the noble nation of Iran, this morning (Wednesday), the residence of Mr. Dr. Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political office of the Islamic Resistance of Hamas, was hit in Tehran, and following this incident, he and one of his bodyguards were martyred."
Mousa Abu Marzook, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau, has vowed to take revenge for Haniyeh's martyrdom, stating that "the cowardly assassination will not go unanswered." His words are a clear indication that this incident is likely to escalate tensions between Hamas and its enemies.
In response to the attack, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan'ani stated that an investigation into the incident is underway by relevant institutions within the Islamic Republic of Iran. He emphasized that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
