How to Make Your Yalda Jelly Shine with a Secret Trick Most People Don't Know

According to SAEDNEWS, Jelly is one of the most popular and commonly used desserts for various occasions. It is very easy to make with accessible ingredients and ready-made powders. There are many ways to prepare different types of jelly at home, and many Iranian housewives know the secret to making delicious jelly and various jelly types. However, few people know the method for making clear and shiny jelly. For this reason, in this section, we have shared the secrets to making jelly shine.

How to Make Your Yalda Jelly Shine

Using Boiling Water

Most people use one cup of boiling water and one cup of cold water to prepare jelly. To make the jelly shiny, it's better not to use cold water at all. Instead, add one and a half cups of boiling water to the jelly powder. The cold water used in jelly helps the jelly liquid cool down more quickly, but it's not necessary to use cold water. Not using cold water in jelly preparation will make it clearer and shinier.

Bain-Marie for Jelly

After adding water to the jelly, stir it well and place the jelly container over steam from a kettle for a while to ensure that all the jelly powder dissolves and the jelly becomes shiny and clear. Alternatively, you can place the jelly in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes to fully dissolve all the jelly particles, then remove it from the microwave and stir again to make the jelly smooth.

Note that the jelly should not be placed directly over heat. The Bain-Marie method is a technique for heating and melting food ingredients indirectly, a method that has been used for a long time.

Straining the Jelly

Another secret to making the jelly shiny is straining it. After preparing the jelly with boiling water, milk, or ice cream, when you're ready to pour it into the mold, first strain it to achieve a smooth and shiny jelly.

Key Tips for Making Homemade Jelly:

  • Maintain the Right Ratio of Ingredients: Ensuring the correct proportions of ingredients is one of the key factors when making jelly.

  • Use Plastic or Silicone Molds: These are the best options for making jelly.

  • Fill the Mold Halfway: It's better to fill the jelly mixture only halfway in the mold to ensure it spreads evenly.

  • Remove Jelly Easily from the Mold: To remove the jelly, place a container of boiling water and set the mold over the steam for 10 seconds. This helps loosen the jelly, making it easy to turn out.
