Harris Stands Firm on ABC News Debate: Will the Debate Take Place on Fox or ABC?

According to SAEDNEWS, Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to debate Kamala Harris on Fox News this September, but the Vice President has yet to agree to this change in plans. Trump had originally committed to a debate with Joe Biden on ABC News, which has now been canceled following Biden's decision to suspend his re-election campaign.

In a statement, Trump explained that the debate with Biden was dropped due to ongoing litigation involving ABC and a conflict of interest related to an individual associated with the network. He indicated that while the location for the Fox News debate is still to be determined, he envisions moderators Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and expects the format to mirror his June debate with Biden—though this time there would be a live studio audience.

On Saturday, Harris's campaign responded, clarifying that she will not agree to the proposed Fox News debate and particularly rejecting the notion of it taking the place of the previously scheduled ABC debate. “Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to, seeking refuge with Fox News instead,” said Harris campaign spokesperson Michael Tyler. He added, “He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on September 10. The Vice President will be there regardless, ready to engage with a prime-time national audience. We can discuss future debates once the one both campaigns agreed to has taken place."

In a tweet, Harris commented, “It’s interesting how ‘any time, any place’ becomes ‘one specific time, one specific safe space.’” She reiterated her readiness to debate Trump, accusing him of backing out of the earlier agreement with ABC.

Meanwhile, Trump, in a post on X, claimed that Harris is “afraid” to engage in a genuine debate with him and asserted, “I’ll see [Harris] on September 4th or I won’t see her at all.”
