The conversation highlighted shared interests in global security and humanitarian concerns within the region.

Modi took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share details about their dialogue, stating that he discussed “India’s full support for early return of peace and stability” in Ukraine. This sentiment underscores India’s commitment to international peace and highlights its role as a significant player in the geopolitical landscape, particularly in relation to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

This issue reflects India's vigilance regarding the welfare of its diaspora and religious communities beyond its borders.

Following the call, the White House released a statement commending Modi's engagement with Ukraine and his recent visit to Poland, one of Ukraine's closest allies in Eastern Europe. White House national security spokesman John Kirby emphasized the importance of international cooperation, stating, “We welcome any other country that wants to help President (Volodymyr) Zelenskyy work towards this just peace, and any country that’s willing to come at that discussion by starting with President Zelensky’s perspective, by hearing him out.”

During the call, Modi reiterated India's commitment to “support the respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity,” reflecting a stance of prioritizing international law and norms in global affairs.

In a related development, local Indian media reported that Modi also held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, where he conveyed insights from his discussions about Ukraine. This indicates India's strategic balancing act as it navigates its relationships with both the United States and Russia amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

As these high-level discussions unfold, they underscore the intricate web of international relations and India's pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.
