Saed News: An unfortunate African wild dog in the MalaMala reserve became the victim of a leopard's ambush. The video you watched shows a sudden and fatal attack by a leopard on a wild dog in the African wilderness.
According to the analytical news site Saadnews, the wild dogs were feeding on a carcass when a large male leopard, likely attracted by the commotion or accidentally drawn near, was lying in ambush among the bushes.
Whenever the wild dogs lifted their heads or turned around, the leopard inched closer. Thanks to its exceptional camouflage, the leopard was able to get within a few meters of them. As soon as the leopard got to a significant distance, it seemed the dogs began to move.
Shortly after, one of the dogs turned around, possibly looking to pick up some leftover food. Unaware of the spotted cat's presence, it unknowingly walked into the ambush.
Suddenly, using surprise, speed, and sheer power, the leopard pounced on the dog and quickly brought it to the ground.
The other dogs, without hesitation, rushed to help their trapped companion in just three seconds. They launched a frantic counterattack in an effort to rescue him. Eventually, the dogs managed to force the leopard to release the captured dog. However, it became clear that the dog had been severely injured by the leopard.
The leopard succeeded in climbing up a tree, but the wounded dog remained on the ground, writhing in pain and whining.
Facing the threat, the pack members returned to check on the injured dog. It appeared the leopard had inflicted a fatal wound, and the dog was believed to have a broken spine.
The dogs waited beneath the tree, hoping for an opportunity to take revenge. Today, fewer than 7,000 wild dogs remain in the wild across Eastern and Southern Africa.
