This island is covered with limestone cliffs and has sandy beaches and hidden caves called Viking Cave, which are the main attractions of these islands. Therefore, discovering and visiting these places is very exciting and enjoyable for those who purchase plane tickets to Phuket. The six Phi Phi Islands consist of two main islands: one is uninhabited called Phi Phi Leh, and the other is mainly inhabited by southern Thai Muslims and is known as Phi Phi Don. An interesting fact about these islands is the absence of motor vehicles.
The dreamlike attractions of this island include Maya Bay, which is made up of beautiful corals and colorful fish, as well as Monkey Beach, Loh Sama Bay, and Pileh Lagoon. To explore this unique world, a rowing boat is enough to experience the excitement. The forests of these islands are among the finest tropical forests in Southeast Asia and are also considered some of the sights of Phuket, Thailand. Surely, you will never get tired of watching its unique nature. Although there are no direct flights from Iran to the Phi Phi Islands, this does not reduce the interest, and many travelers buy plane tickets to Phuket and then head to the beautiful Phi Phi Islands. In recent years, the tourism industry in Phi Phi Islands has gained great fame and annually welcomes many tourists from around the world.
According to archaeologists, Phi Phi Island is a very ancient place, dating back to prehistoric times and even the age of dinosaurs. The Thais have taken the name Phi Phi from the word "Krabi," meaning "sword," indicating that the island looks like a sword drawn out of the ground. The island’s former name was Pulau Api-Api, meaning "fiery island."
The Phi Phi Island is divided into two parts: Phi Phi Leh, the smaller and uninhabited part, and Phi Phi Don, the larger part inhabited by locals. Phi Phi Don Island includes facilities such as hotels, restaurants, cafes, and beautiful beaches.
Ko Phi Phi Don:
One of the largest islands among the Phi Phi Islands, and the only one inhabited where tourists can enjoy its amenities.
Ko Phi Phi Leh:
A smaller island to the south of Phi Phi, which has no residents. Only guards are responsible for protecting and maintaining this island. A famous movie was filmed here, and after that, due to its uninhabited status, it became one of the most touristy places in the world.
Ko Mai Phai (Bamboo Island):
Another island in the Phi Phi group with many bamboo trees, located north of Phi Phi Don. This island offers opportunities for diving and swimming.
Ko Yung:
An island north of Phi Phi Don with rocky and small sandy beaches. Be sure to wear shoes or sandals here because the sandy shores contain coral and sea urchins that can harm your feet.
Bida Nok and Bida Nai:
Two limestone islands located south of Phi Phi Leh that played a role in the formation of the main Phi Phi Island.
On Phi Phi Don, you can experience activities such as diving, rock climbing, yoga, boating, cliff jumping, surfing, and fishing. Rare birds also inhabit these islands from December to May, so if you travel during these months, bird watching will be very enjoyable.
Due to its distance from Phuket and Krabi, the best way to reach Phi Phi Island is by private speedboats, which take about 45 minutes. Since these boats are private, departure and stop times are flexible. Using these boats is safe and comfortable for purchasing tickets and boarding. Alternatively, public ferries and boats are available with main stations at Rassada Pier in Phuket and Klong Jirad Pier in Krabi. However, the travel time by public ferry is twice as long as by speedboat. The upper decks of these ferries allow sunbathing and tanning, while the lower decks have air-conditioned rooms and offer drinks and light snacks. To enjoy these services, you can buy VIP or green tickets. To travel between the six islands, local boats are used. Therefore, for a one-day trip, the best choice is to visit Phi Phi Island.
