**Saed News:** Hilehvar Village is one of the ancient rock-hewn villages in East Azerbaijan Province, located near the rock village of Kandovan. This village is now abandoned due to an attack by a savage tribe. The houses are simple and were carved underground using primitive tools.
According to the analytical news site Saed News, citing Alibaba, the main attraction of the rock-hewn village of Hilehvar is its simple houses, which were built this way to remain hidden from bandits and looters. The villagers of Hilehvar lost their homes in a tragic event and relocated to another area. Since then, the village has been abandoned and has become a part of history.
In this article, we take a short journey into a dark historical past, where light only enters through the roof tunnels.
Hilehvar Village, commonly known by locals as the rock-hewn village of Hilehvar, is located in East Azerbaijan Province and is known for its unusual architecture. It is situated in the city of Osku, famous for the rock village of Kandovan. While most tourists recognize Kandovan for its beehive-shaped rock houses, few people have heard of Hilehvar.
Hilehvar remains isolated and overlooked, with even some locals unaware of its existence.
One of the main reasons this village has remained obscure is its hidden location, away from the eyes of tourists, travelers, and passersby. Only those who pay close attention to their surroundings while traveling between Osku and Kandovan might notice it.
Near the road close to Hilehvar, holes in the ground catch the eye. A curious traveler might stop to investigate, only to discover that these holes are actually the buried remnants of Hilehvar's ancient homes. The village now lies abandoned and silent.
Hilehvar is located just 2 kilometers from Kandovan, nestled on the northwestern slopes of Mount Sahand. It is considered one of Iran's rock-hewn villages, situated 44 kilometers southwest of Tabriz in East Azerbaijan Province. This astonishing village shares borders with Shabestar County to the north, Azarshahr County to the south, Tabriz to the east, and Lake Urmia to the west.
