SAEDNEWS: US President Donald Trump publicly urged his Justice Department on Saturday to take action against his enemies, the latest in a series of moves that critics say have shattered the agency’s traditional independence.
In a fiery social media post addressed to “Pam” — widely believed to be Attorney General Pam Bondi — former President Donald Trump criticized the lack of legal action against California Senator Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James, both Democrats, AFP reported.
Schiff and James were accused by a close Trump ally, Bill Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, of falsifying mortgage documents. Trump slammed the delays, claiming, “We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility.”
On Friday, Trump fired federal prosecutor Erik Siebert, who oversaw the investigation into James, after Siebert reportedly concluded there was insufficient evidence to charge her with mortgage fraud. Trump defended his decision, asserting, “I fired him, and there is a GREAT CASE, and many lawyers, and legal pundits, say so.”
Both Schiff and James have clashed with Trump in the past. Schiff led the prosecution in Trump’s first impeachment trial over alleged Ukraine election interference in 2020, while James brought a civil fraud case claiming Trump inflated his wealth to secure favorable loans — a lawsuit that initially resulted in a $464 million judgment, later partially overturned.
Trump, who has faced 34 felony convictions related to hush money payments and a separate $83.3 million defamation penalty for assaulting author E. Jean Carroll, vented: “They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”
In a move to fill Siebert’s position, Trump plans to nominate White House aide Lindsey Halligan, who has been reviewing Smithsonian content for “divisive or partisan narratives.”
This latest escalation underscores Trump’s ongoing battle with Democratic officials, portraying the former president as determined to pursue legal action against his political adversaries, while continuing to challenge previous rulings and civil penalties.
