Turkey has many beautiful landscapes and historical landmarks, making it an attractive tourist destination for travelers. However, for us coffee lovers, it's a bit different. The mention of this country evokes an extraordinary and somewhat special drink for us—Turkish coffee, which is considered the third option after espresso and French coffee in terms of coffee preparation methods.

In this article, we have provided the recipe for making Turkish coffee, and we have also shared practical tips that can help you prepare this coffee in its authentic method, so you can make and serve it like professional baristas.

Ingredients for Homemade Turkish Coffee:

  • 2 tbsp Turkish coffee

  • 1 cup cold water

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 2 ice cubes

How to Make Turkish Coffee: For each person, add 1 tbsp of Turkish coffee to the cezve (small pot) and add sugar to taste. This ratio will provide a medium sweetness, but you can adjust the sweetness as you like. Stir the coffee with sugar well, then add cold water and stir again. This step is very important. Afterward, add the ice cubes.

Now, place the cezve over a very low flame and stop stirring. Wait for the coffee to begin to boil slowly. When foam forms on the surface, spoon the foam into the cups, then let the coffee simmer until it rises, then quickly remove it from the heat and pour it into the cup gently to preserve the foam. Serve immediately.

Key Tips for Making Turkish Coffee:

  • You can adjust the amount of sugar as per your preference.

  • If Turkish coffee boils, it will lose its foam.

  • You can also make Turkish coffee using an espresso machine's nozzle.

  • If you prefer a stronger coffee, use more coffee grounds.

  • The slow brewing process helps create more foam.

  • When pouring the Turkish coffee into the cup, start pouring from the side of the cup gently to prevent losing the foam.

Ingredients for Turkish Coffee - Second Method:

  • 2 heaping tsp Turkish coffee

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 cup water

How to Make Turkish Coffee - Second Method: First, add the Turkish coffee, water, and sugar (if desired) into the cezve and stir well until completely mixed. Place the cezve on medium heat, and once it begins to bubble, remove the bubbles and pour them into the cup where you will serve the coffee. Once foam forms on the surface of the coffee, turn off the heat and remove the cezve from the stove. Do not let the coffee boil, as it will make it bitter. Pour the coffee gently into the cup to avoid losing the foam. Once the coffee grounds settle at the bottom, serve it.
