Saed News: Genetic testing and other scientific analyses have confirmed that the individual buried in the coffin is both the **son of Amenhotep III** and the **father of Tutankhamun**—that is, **Akhenaten**.
According to the History section of Saed News, this tomb was built in the 14th century BCE. For a long time, it was speculated that the body found in this tomb belonged to the famous Pharaoh Akhenaten. However, genetic and other scientific tests have confirmed that the individual buried there is both the son of Amenhotep III and the father of Tutankhamun—in other words, Akhenaten himself.
Akhenaten is known for abandoning Egypt’s traditional religion and introducing Atenism, a monotheistic worship centered around the sun disk god Aten. Because of this, later rulers referred to Akhenaten in archival documents as “the enemy” or “that criminal.”
The tomb, which is 27.61 meters long, is relatively small and consists of a single undecorated chamber. It appears to have been unfinished and was later heavily damaged by moisture.
The mummy was poorly preserved, but the linen wrappings seem to have remained intact.
