Saed News: About a month ago, a farmer from Kentucky accidentally discovered around 700 gold coins, minted before the American Civil War, in a part of his cornfield. The value of these coins is estimated to be between one to two million dollars.
According to the news analysis agency Saed News, quoting from Fararo, this collection, now known as the "Great Kentucky Treasure," includes one-dollar, ten-dollar, and twenty-dollar coins, some of which are worth tens of thousands of dollars on their own.
The identity of the treasure discoverer and the exact location of the find have been kept secret. However, a short video has been released showing the moments of the discovery, where the farmer can be heard saying, "This is the craziest thing I've ever seen."
The exact details of why and how this treasure was buried here are still unknown, but some theories have been expressed by various individuals. Ryan McNatt, an archaeologist, told LiveScience that the coins were likely hidden during a specific raid in the Civil War era. "Wealthy Kentuckians probably hid part of their fortune to prevent it from falling into the hands of Confederate forces."
Most of the coins that make up the Great Kentucky Treasure are gold dollars minted between 1854 and 1862, although some date back to 1840.
Among the rarest coins in this collection are the 20-dollar gold coins minted in 1863. One of these, featuring an image of two eagles, could be worth up to 400,000 dollars.
