SAEDNEWS: A newly circulated video showcasing the interior and exterior of the late President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s residence has sparked widespread interest on social media, revealing everything from his personal treadmill to his wife’s kitchen and sewing machine.
According to Saed News,
a recently released video offering a rare look inside the personal life of Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, one of the most influential figures in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has gone viral across Iranian media platforms. The footage—capturing both the modest façade and the lived-in interior of Rafsanjani’s home—includes glimpses of his personal bedroom, exercise equipment such as a treadmill, and domestic spaces like the kitchen and sewing area used by his wife.
Rafsanjani, born in 1934 in Bahreman, Kerman Province, was a revolutionary cleric and central architect of the Islamic Republic. Known formally as Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, he was a close associate of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini during the struggle against the Pahlavi monarchy. His political journey was marked by multiple arrests and imprisonment under the Shah’s regime.
After the 1979 Revolution, Rafsanjani played a foundational role in shaping the newly established Islamic Republic. He was a co-founder of the Combatant Clergy Association of Tehran, a member of the Revolutionary Council, and briefly served as the acting Interior Minister. His political career included pivotal roles: Speaker of Parliament, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces during the Iran-Iraq War, two-term President of Iran (1989–1997), and head of numerous strategic institutions including the Expediency Discernment Council and the Supreme National Security Council. He also served as Friday Prayer Leader in Tehran for nearly three decades and chaired the Assembly of Experts from 2007 to 2009.
His death on January 8, 2017, following a heart attack at the age of 82, marked the end of an era in Iranian politics. He passed away at Shohada-ye Tajrish Hospital in Tehran. On January 10, a funeral prayer was led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the University of Tehran. Rafsanjani was subsequently laid to rest at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, south of the capital.
The recently published video not only revives public memory of Rafsanjani’s legacy but also offers a humanizing portrait of the man behind the political persona. In a country where public figures often remain distant symbols, this intimate glimpse has resonated widely with audiences, further cementing his place in the Iranian collective memory.
