SAEDNEWS: Iran’s top judicial authority has demanded the swift reconstruction of Tehran’s Evin Prison following an Israeli missile strike that killed dozens and displaced inmates.
According to Saed News, Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje’i, addressing the Supreme Council of the Judiciary on Monday, condemned the June 23 attack as part of “a broader aggression” and urged authorities to expedite restoration plans. “All conditions must be created to ensure that prisoners who were relocated from Evin can return without delay,” he said.
The Israeli strike, launched during visitation hours, claimed 79 lives—including inmates, guards, visiting relatives, and nearby civilians—and damaged the prison’s medical wing and surrounding neighborhoods. Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir called it “a full-scale war crime,” emphasizing the timing and civilian toll.
In the aftermath, Iran redistributed prisoners across Tehran Province. Yet, beyond logistics, Mohseni-Eje’i framed the incident as a moment of national reckoning and resurgence. “Iran is the land of the brave,” he declared, adding that recent weeks have validated this ethos in the eyes of the world.
Citing a surge in national unity, Mohseni-Eje’i urged officials to preserve and build upon the current solidarity. “Even Iranians abroad have voiced support,” he said. “The Judiciary must now serve this nation more faithfully than ever.”
The Evin attack marked an escalation in hostilities that began June 13, when Israel and later the U.S. carried out coordinated strikes on Iranian military, nuclear, and civilian targets. Iran’s retaliatory operations, including strikes on Israeli territory and a major U.S. base in Qatar, were declared successful on June 24, with Tehran asserting its deterrence had been restored.
